Chloe Bull is a Social Media Copywriter at Profile. She sets the strategy and writes the content for clients' social media accounts, with a focus on their LinkedIn profiles.
Before joining Profile, Chloe spent time at a charity, helping to secure grant funding by writing persuasive proposals. She also worked as a communications officer, running social media channels and writing internal and external newsletters.
Chloe holds a degree in English and Philosophy from the University of Nottingham and also completed a creative writing course at the University’s campus in Malaysia.
After graduating, she spent time in China teaching English as a second language to children in Fujian Province’s Capital City, Fuzhou.
“Writing copy is about more than entertaining an audience. It’s crafted strategically to persuade people to take a specific action. This might be to like a post, to engage, to follow a link to a website, or to purchase a product or service. It might even be something less tangible, like building brand awareness or shaping opinions.”
“No matter what the copy is aiming to achieve, writing it always involves putting yourself in the shoes of the target audience and considering what is going to resonate with and influence them.”
“It’s always important to ask clients the difficult questions they might not have considered. Sometimes you need to challenge them as to why they hold a particular position and tease out the authenticity that’s hidden behind their tired corporate messaging.”
"I always encourage my clients to draw on their personal stories which show their audience how they became the person they are today. And how their leadership is based on real-life experience. This not only humanises them and encourages their audience to engage, but it increases their credibility."
“Working in the charity sector, and through my writing, I increased an organisation’s win rate for funding bids from 33% to 58%. This meant that the charity was able to fund new projects that improved the lives of its beneficiaries. Seeing this work in action was incredibly rewarding.”
