Explainer: Profile vs. Transmission Private

In this post, we provide clients and partners with an explainer on our recent decision to move our email addresses to the Profile domain.

As a PR agency, we will celebrate our 10th Anniversary next month. As part of that process, we have started the process of moving our team's email addresses from the Transmission Private domain to the Profile domain.

In very basic terms, this means that you will start receiving correspondence from @welcometoprofile.com email addresses rather than @transmission-private.com addresses.

Going forward, our emails will also have a Profile-branded signature rather than a Transmission Private-branded signature.

To help our clients, partners, and stakeholders understand this transition, we wanted to put together a short blog post to fully explain this tweak as well as answer any questions that you might have.

History of TP and Profile.

Transmission Private was founded in August 2014 and carved out a niche for advising high-net-worth individuals and other prominent businesspeople on their public profiles.

Over the last 10 years, we have had the privilege of being recognised as one of the leading advisors to successful individuals and families, leading on high-intensity PR campaigns.

This included helping clients secure coverage, manage their online presence, and manage media enquiries.

In 2023, Transmission Private spun out a separate brand, Profile. This was the exact same business operating under a different, fresher, more contemporary brand.

Profile initially focused on executive profiling, but has since built out its team to provide a full suite of thought leadership services.

While TP had established a strong reputation for itself in the UHNWI segment of the market, it was perceived to be too exclusive for wider business leaders.

At point of launch, this was covered widely in the PR industry press as us launching a second brand to capitalise on the growing global demand for executive profiling services.

While Transmission Private had established a strong reputation for itself in the high-net-worth segment of the market, it was perceived to be too exclusive for wider business leaders.

Some people also felt that the TP brand also didn't capture the creative, fun, and youthful nature of the business and its team.

Focusing on the Profile brand.

Since launch, the Profile brand has been well-received in the market, both by our existing clients, new clients, as well as industry talent (an important audience as we continue to grow as a business).

We have heard feedback that it is bolder, more energetic, and modern. We have spent the last year or so building visibility of the brand.

We have now taken the decision to move our team's email addresses from the Transmission Private domain (transmission-private.com) to the Profile domain (welcometoprofile.com).

This represents the fact that most (but not all) of our clients know us better under this name.

Profile has developed a broader audience more quickly that the Transmission Private brand, which was always (by design) going to appeal to a small segment of the market.

Similarly, the Profile brand has developed a wider, broader audience more quickly that the Transmission Private brand, which was always (by design) going to appeal to a small segment of the market.

We wanted to find a solution that was clear, transparent, honest, and simple.

Importantly, the Transmission Private brand will continue to remain live and active for the foreseeable future, and this change will impact team members' email addresses only.

FAQs.

What's the corporate structure of TP and Profile, and will there be any changes going forward?

Profile is a trading name of Transmission (Private) Ltd, a UK-registered company. This will not change.

What's the relationship between TP and Profile?

They are the same business with the same team operating under different brands.

Should I call the business TP or Profile?

Either is fine. We are effectively the exact same business, operating under two different brands that appeal to slightly different audiences. Even though our domain is welcometoprofile.com, the business is called Profile and not Welcome To Profile.

Is there a difference in the teams at TP or Profile?

No. It is the exactly same team internally.

Can I still send emails to Transmission Private?

Yes, the original email addresses will continue to operate normally. It is just that, going forward, most team members will reply from their new Profile email addresses.

What's happening to the TP brand?

Nothing at all. The TP brand is very well-established in the market, and there are no plans to retire or rebrand TP. This is just about changing our email addresses.

Why go through the effort of moving to the Profile email addresses?

Profile is starting to become a better-known brand. This is likely to become even more so over the coming years given that TP was always intended to appeal to a very specific, smaller audience. We have decided to bite the bullet and make this change now.

Will there be any implications for invoicing, either paying or receiving payment?

None at all. This is only a change to our email addresses. We are the same business with the same company name, number, VAT number, bank accounts, and otherwise.
